Overview

CareHome Technologies (“CareHome,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the CareHome medication management platform, including the caregiver web application and patient check-in portal available at carehomeco.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our services.

By using CareHome, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Information We Collect

Account information. When a caregiver registers, we collect your name, email address, and phone number. When a patient profile is created by a caregiver or facility, we collect the patient’s name, phone number, and relationship to the caregiver. If you register using a facility code, we also associate your account with that facility.

Medication and health information. Caregivers enter medication names, dosing schedules, adherence windows, and refill quantity information for the patients in their care. Patients log dose check-ins through the app. This information is stored to provide the core service.

Usage data. We collect timestamps of dose check-ins, missed doses, caregiver acknowledgements, manual check-in logs, and caregiver response times. This data is used to generate adherence metrics and improve the product.

Survey responses. Caregivers may be asked to complete optional in-app feedback surveys. Responses are stored and used for product research purposes.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Operate the CareHome medication tracking service

Send SMS notifications to caregivers when a patient misses a scheduled dose

Send SMS reminders to patients when it is time to take their medication

Display adherence data and insights to caregivers and, where applicable, to facility administrators

Improve the product based on usage patterns and feedback

Communicate with you about your account

Optional SMS Messaging

We do not share or sell your mobile information with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.

SMS text messaging is an optional feature of CareHome. You may use all features of CareHome without enabling or consenting to SMS messages.

How SMS Consent Works

Caregivers and facility staff: May enable SMS missed-dose alerts by checking an opt-in box and providing their phone number, either at signup or later in Settings. The opt-in box is unchecked by default. Account creation does not require SMS consent.

Patients: May receive SMS reminders only if (a) their caregiver or facility provides their phone number and checks the opt-in box, and (b) the patient replies YES or Y to a one-time confirmation text. The opt-in box is unchecked by default at patient enrollment. Patient enrollment does not require SMS consent.

Consent Management

Reply STOP at any time to opt out of SMS. Reply START to opt back in. We record every consent state change for compliance and audit purposes.

Information Collected via SMS

If SMS is enabled, we store the phone number, timestamp of consent, timestamp of each outgoing message, and the body and timestamp of any inbound replies (e.g., YES, STOP, NO).

We do not share phone numbers with third parties for marketing purposes.

Other Details

Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on missed-dose events and medication schedules. For help, email hello@carehomeco.com. We do not share or sell your mobile information with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.

Message types sent:

Missed-dose alerts to caregivers and facility staff

Medication reminder notifications to patients

One-time opt-in confirmation to patients

Patient access code delivery

SMS provider: CareHome uses Twilio to deliver SMS messages. Twilio’s privacy policy is available at twilio.com/legal/privacy.

Facility Accounts and Administrator Access

CareHome serves both individual family caregivers and healthcare facilities such as independent living communities. If you create an account using a facility code provided by your organization, the following additional terms apply.

What facility administrators can see

Designated administrators at your facility will have access to a facility-level dashboard that displays:

The names of patients (residents) enrolled under your facility’s account

Individual and aggregate medication adherence rates

Missed-dose records and timing data

Caregiver activity and response time metrics

Downloadable compliance and adherence reports

This access is provided to facility administrators for the purpose of resident care coordination and operational oversight, consistent with the facility’s own healthcare operations under HIPAA.

What this means for caregivers

If you sign up for a CareHome account using a facility code, your account activity โ€” including your patients’ dose logs, adherence rates, and your own response-time metrics โ€” may be visible to designated administrators at your facility. This is disclosed at the point of sign-up.

What this means for patients

If you are a patient whose medication schedule is managed through a facility-affiliated CareHome account, your medication adherence data may be viewable by your facility’s designated care coordinators or administrators in addition to your assigned caregiver. This is consistent with how your facility manages your health information under their existing privacy practices.

Business Associate Agreements

CareHome enters into a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with each facility partner prior to enabling facility-level data access. This agreement governs how CareHome handles Protected Health Information on behalf of the facility in compliance with HIPAA.

Facility administrators are not permitted to use resident data for any purpose other than care coordination and compliance oversight, share resident data with third parties outside the facility without authorization, or access data for patients not enrolled under their facility’s account.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

Supabase โ€” database and backend infrastructure

Netlify โ€” web hosting

Twilio โ€” SMS delivery

Each of these providers processes data solely to provide their respective services and is bound by their own privacy policies.

We may share your data with your affiliated healthcare facility if you have registered using a facility code. Such sharing is limited to designated administrators at that facility and is governed by a Business Associate Agreement. No mobile data or personal information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes at any time.

Data Retention

We retain your account and health data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS) and access controls on our database. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

CareHome is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email or in-app notice. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
